Yeah, i know this too well myself I think that's the best thing in having such a great community here at the CG, to get feedback from a more distant/ different point of view, which can bring one "back on the track" (although i think it's really important to leave the well trodden paths frome time to time)

    Good point, Tnx snodsy!

Damn, in this way is much more complicated... maybe I'll drop off the "lines" idea..

Nah, they look good! Just keep them as you had them, with two minor changes ...

    1. Make them a little more faint, lower opacity or the like.
    2. Center them offshore near major ports, as they were actually used. Don't center them directly on the shoreline.

It's looking good. A very original style. It's hard to work a lot of different elements with that kind of background texture. Concerning the point raised by Abu Lafia, you could possibly add a slight effect or texture to make the seas a bit more rough.

I've listen to your advices, still working, here's WIP n° 8

    I need your opinion about:
    - linees placement (a real pain in the a**..)
    - details blending (monsters and ship)
    - overall texture

keep in mind that the compass rose is still a sketch, i will add a "wrinkeld paper" effect later on, and the coastline waves are about to be lightly revised

Hey lesopeso, it looks damn great!
    - I see, you changed the lines a lot from wip to wip and both (8 & 9) look very nice
    - Imo the monsters and the ship look much better now with less opacity
    - The additional grungy texture + the fantastic labelling "rounds" the whole map in a wonderful way in my view.
    Keep up the good work!

I like the WIP 8 better with the additional portal an lines. But the Monster and Ships on Top of the lines, the lines should be the back most element. The "N" in Nyalu could be nudged off the landmass. Unknown Lands reads the most dominate, if thats your intent. Nice job
