    Default Hello, I'm new here

    Hi I'm new here.

I'm interested in procedural generation in general, and specifically procedural generation of planets of the type that might appear in a a videogame.

I've written some programs to generate earthlike planets and gas giants...

These look really awesome. I've always had a soft spot for procedural generation. Can't wait to see more!

Hello smcameron, welcome to the Guild!

These are very nice. Can you share a bit about how you are generating them, or what your plans are for further work? I'd definitely be interested in hearing more about it

    Sorry for the slow reply...

The gas giant was made with my program called "gaseous-giganticus" which is part of a game I'm making called "Space Nerds In Space" (which is a multiplayer bridge simulator thingy).

I made some slides about how the program which made these works here:
http://smcameron.github.io/space-ner...ideshow.html#1 (use the up and down arrow keys to navigate, this probably won't work well on mobile).

I made a video about how to use the program here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nx5yPpQh2M

For the earthlike planets, I have another program, earthlike.c, also part of Space Nerds In Space. Here are some slides that describe how it workst: https://smcameron.github.io/space-ne...ideshow.html#1 (again, navigate with arrow keys).

    These are spiffy!

Have you played Artemis Bridge Simulator? It's a blast.

I have played it once, a little less than a year ago. I have known about Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator since about 2010 or so, seen youtube videos of people playing it and so on, and it was the inspiration for my own effort at making such a game, Space Nerds In Space/.

This is incredibly cool...you should look into joining forces with Alex Peterson to add this functionality to Spacescape...I'm using it to add backgrounds to the space breakout game I'm making.
