Default October 2015 Challenge: The Nations of Airev

The Nations of Veria was my first map posted here.

So now I’m inverting Veria, and Airev is born. I still don’t know where I’m headed, but something will happen.

Critiques, suggestions, complaints are welcome, you can be cruelly merciless if you want .

Hehe, love how you've reversed the name. That fits the spirit of the challenge very well!

Looking good so far, and agree with Barek that your mountains look great. I want to try something like that myself.

I really like the original map, so looking forward to seeing what you produce!

Absolutely love the color pallete. The small key element icons are really nice. Forests have really nice spacing on them.

I think the flags are a little too large.
Maybe the rhumb lines aren't full black, 80% gray? or some transparency?

The white boxes could be better intergrated, and that whole bottom left hand corner needs work, althought the compass rose is nice.

Barek333, Chickpea, and Foremost, thank you for your kind words.

Snodsy, thank you, that’s the kind of feedback I always would like to have, but you gave me a feedback on my old map, I need feedback on the new, inverted one !

Well, in my initial post I wrote “something will happen” and, at the moment, it happened that my home computer crashed with all the files in. They told me I need a new computer but maybe the hard disk is safe; still I don’t know if I'll be able to work on the map before time expires.
I'll keep you updated and thanks again for your feedbacks.

Oh no, sorry to hear that. :/ I hope you manage to recover your files. What a terrible shame.

I partially recovered my files, and now I'm rushing things to try and finish the map, even if I fear I won't be able to put everything I want in.

    So my

Glad to hear you've recovered at least some of your files, and it's too bad that it's taken so long and you've missed most of the month. I hope you manage to finish in time. Nothing like a deadline to focus you!

I like how you've done the grassy texture. It looks really nice and the colours work well with the sea area. It's looking really nice so far, and I hope you manage a few more updates before the challenge closes. Good luck!

Good luck with the time-expensive task of labeling. If you hadn't think about it before, why not using the same names/shields as the original map - it should save time and it fits the spirit of the challenge..
