I like the look of the map. The only thing that stands out to me is the captial at 37,32. Why is it not on the river? And why is it the captial? It looks like it is not on a trade route.
Do you remember this old map?

Well, I've been working on a new version, now an hex map of the above. The scale is 12-miles per hex.

Now, before I continue the mapmaking process, it's a good time to ask for opinions. Mainly, is there anything wrong with the hex map? Is there something out of place (geographically speaking)? Oh, and before you mention, the big river on the right (starting at 65.18 and ending at 79.36) is not a river, but a big natural canal (in fact, I foresee the landmass moving a little further every decade or so).
So, what do you think? Should I change anything before it's too late?

You have good eyes. :-)
You are right, it should be placed at 36.33. I missed that.
Now, the reason why it is the capital is due to the large forest to the north. As this is a fantasy world (with elves, but not dwarves), the elves of that forest were mighty in the past, so there was a lot of trade to this capital. The elves are long gone, but tradition makes the seat of power remain on that place.
Anything else that you think it should change?
