Here's a sample of an older 'player handout' map showing the gamers in the city of Tol Vehara (center north) where the other cities of the region were. No borders, no mountains, just rivers and cities. I'm posting this as a sort of "before" map, as in "before I start following the tutorials and guides here to improve my mapping skills". I used one of the "atlas style" tutorials to generate the relief look and feel of the map a couple of years ago. I wasn't willing at the time to mix styles by painting in the mountain ranges by hand, letting the darker brown indicate more of where the rocky and mountainous regions were. And since the territory controlled geopolitically was in reality centered in the cities as sort of city-states with lots of wilderness between them, the borders seemed a bit contrived, so they were left out.

Definitely there's things I would do differently, but the game has moved on to a new world and a new crew, so new maps will have to be made. Looking forward to learning and applying all of the community lessons in cartography here to improve my maps and my games.
