    Question Practice map

    Hi all,

I'm new to the site and fairly new to map-making. I'd love some feedback on my work. Attached is a practice piece I did recently. I think it needs more detail, including some towns and cities, but I've not decided how best to denote them yet.

Hi Andy, I posted some links in your Intro thread that might help you, but I'd say you already have a good start on drawing maps. This one has a decent coastline, all your rivers run correctly, the mountains are in ranges, and you've already found some of the texture techniques.

Hunt out some of the tutorials in the How-To section and read, I think you'll improve your maps very quickly!

Hey Andy, welcome to the Guild.
Not a bad map. Definitely some cities and some text labels but you could do those in an image editor like GIMP, Krita, Photoshop or inkscape.
Possibly adding some forest or some other features like swamps or grass or hilly bumps might be good too.
