Default February 2016 Challenge: Beyond Redemption

I wasn't going to enter this one, but after finishing Beyond Redemption, I feel the urge. The book was great, unlike any fantasy novel I've read - it's a world where delusion defines reality, from the minor to the huge. 'Magic' consists of the delusions of the insane manifesting as tangible results. So pyromaniacs are actually pyrokinetics, people with multiple personalities actually create other people, and all kinds of other weird things. Great book.

The only map I could find is from the author's/book's wiki:

A serviceable map, but not great.

Due to the changeable nature of the book's world (because if enough people believe something, reality itself can shift), I may move some stuff around to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

I looked at that map before reading your text... I was thinking - that is not nearly up to Diamond's abilities...
Then I read the text. It sounds like a book I'll have to add to the list.

Here's the first bit done. For those of you old enough to remember, the border is part of a character sheet from Wraith: The Oblivion. I scanned it and cleaned it up a bit; the look fits the subject matter completely.

Duuuude! I used to have that book! Glow-in-the-dark elements on the cover! The game design of those White Wolf products was always so smart and well written. I never actually played Wraith, but I read the book over and got inspiration for the Werewolf, Vampire, and Mage games that I did play.

Yep, they were awesome RPGs. Still hold up well today. Alas, the only part of Wraith I've got left is a few ratty character sheets...

Okay, that's a pretty awesome border!

Nice start. The border is a little terrifying!

Well, I guess I'm in the "old enough" group since I possess that book ! I also never played it but used a lot of ideas and concepts to develop one of my own game.
Such a great idea to use it as map border! I'd never thought of that. It looks fantastic.
