Map The Paths of Saoghal (Anga nation / Ekundu territories)

"The Paths of Saoghal" is a project for creating a universe of heroic fantasy.
It was initiated back in 2007 on the basis of a collection of stories written by a friend, Atorgael.
There is a lot of sub projects around this "world" like stories, 2 games (one cards game and one board game), a lot of illustrations all this realize by Atorgael and me.

Here is a small summary :
Saoghal is a world of Fantasy where Humans are in permanent quest for power and glory.
Humans have survived to the Epoch of Gods during which some Cities have fallen. The Ones still standing are slowly regaining control of the lands.
Large caravans travel across the world to extract its resources and a lot of dangers await these brave travelers.
The Gods were banished from the world and try to come back by any means. Whispering soothing words, they attempt to rally to their cause, the nations who have turned away from them.
Anga, Ekundu, Rathi, Siyan or Uani, who will answer their call? Who will take the plunge and give back to Gods an access to the world ?
Yet, Saoghal is watching over. Finally, could the world be the real and only Master of the Game ?

Quickly, the need was felt to have maps.

The following maps are currently in progress :
    - 5 regional maps,
    - map of the known world (with 2 variations : climates and winds / biomes),
    - at least map for one town.

We also have a lot of other things like calendar, chronology and basis of History, the base of a writing system, moons' calendar, etc. but it's not the point here.

So here's the first map : The Anga nation (sorry for English speakers, the map is in French).
It was done with Inkscape and Photoshop.
    Hope you like it!

I'm not fan of this kind of map. It's too modern to my taste. But this one is really well done and beautifull ! . There is lot of work behind it, i guess. So i'm a little puzzled, fantasy with modern science to draw that kind of map ?

Like Warlin, I like my more old-fashioned illustrative maps, but I have to say takashi that you've done a great job! Some of the details in this are great to see, from the folds to the paper texturing and wear. Looking forwards to seeing the others in the set!

This is really nice. Reminds me of an old National Geographic map I had when I was a kid. Very cool!

Ooh, this is really nice! The mountain ranges look very authentic. I like how you've done the political borders too. Thanks for sharing and hope to see more of your work.

    Cheers,

Yep, i am a fan as well. Why? Because i think most of the time maps are out-of-character or out-of-story tools...so the map is for the player or reader and not for an in-world persona. Therefore i don't need the map to be authentic for the age portrayed in the fiction (not that it is a bad thing if maps DO that, mind you...just saying that it is not necessary).

So *thumbs up* from me. I hope to see more!
