Well this sounds awesome! Looking forward to seeing your first pics.
I've been wanting to make a distorted roadmap for a while, something along the lines of the Roman Tabula Peutingeriana, and this project suits that perfectly.
I also have a world project for this type of map. It is a world that is deep into a brutal war against a race of immortals. Most of the remaining population of the world is fleeing into a giant citadel dubbed "The Last Bastion", one of the major transports into the city is a large railway system. I'm not at home right now, but when I get there I'll be sure to post a sketch.

"We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams"
A quick sketch I made outlining the railway lines and the way I plan to distort the map. It should end up looking much longer than that

That idea could be fun to do and the Tabula Peutingeriana looks a great map for inspiration.

I forgot to upload a more realistic version of the land, so people can see what's being simplified and how
Very cool. It's gonna be a lot of fun to watch what you do with it.
I think I went a little bit overboard with the whole distortion/simplification thing...

Doesn't matter, I'm keeping it that way. It was a freaking challenge to figure out how to organize the different lines so as to only use four levels.

Wow, really cool idea. I'm looking at the full image of that Roman map on the Wiki page and it is mind-bending. Good luck, looking forward to seeing this progress!

I really like the futuristic feel to this. The lines are dynamic and give sense of speed. Really looking forward to seeing this shape up.
