Map The Western Edge, Map of the Ninth World

    the western edge.jpg

This is the first full map I've made, for a game called Numenera, set on earth at the ninth age of man. This is the Westernmost edge of the Pangaeaic continent.

I know the compass is wrong, but i haven't had the time to fix it.

I'm still working on the history of the people in the regions, but basically about 4-500 years ago, the area had little to no humans living there, until they migrated from other regions and started building villages. 200 years before present, the four lands to the west (Kappi, Halv, Zenith and Ayx(pronounced ice)) fought over a huge crystal that fell from the sky one day, creating a crater in the center of the "island". The Zenith people believe crystal caves are the resting places of the past gods, they died keeping the Driva Vidre (the giant crystal) from being damaged by the other tribes. The zeith proposed an idea- building a city around the crystal so all four tribes could appreciate it's magic and beauty. That's when the walls were built between the regions, keeping them from killing each other.

I know that I am a year late to reply to this post, but I am going to do it anyways. I just started here, so I have an excuse.

First, I like your map! Personally, I would have changed the color scheme to something a little less classic-fantasy, but to each their own. It looks fun, I would love to hear how you ended up using the map and how it worked out for you.

I am also a Numenera fan, so if you have any other ideas for Numenera maps I would love to hear them, because that is a system that really benefits from good maps, with all the focus that the game puts on exploring.
