Map Esker, village of 100 or so folk! mixed media

This was a commissioned piece I completed recently. The village is called Esker and it lies just south of a desolate, barren wasteland of a place. The actual art is mixed media on parchment paper. The mediums being blank ink, sepia ink, watercolor paints, and markers. The "wooden" frame is water color and colored pencil on a separate sheet of parchment paper, overlaid in GIMP. The parchment paper is regular strathemore parchment paper, but i sort of "treat" it with marker ink to get an organic look aged/water-damaged look.

    Nice work sword peddler.
You got a pretty good amount of detail in those little buildings.

Something about the simplicity combined with the unique style strikes a chord with me, i like that. Keep up the work!

I especially like the stained glass windows in an otherwise greyscale map

This map has a certain appeal. While it looks very basic at first sight it has a lot of nice little details and I personally love the way you used colors in this map. Keep up the good work!

Great use of colors and detail, and you seem to have a good grasp of architecture and house construction! I suggest studying perspective and/or the isometric view, depending on what you were going for here, as it doesn't quite work in this one.

Definitely agree with what's been said, your linework is very good along with your neat labelling and font you wrote in. The colours compliment the map too, though as Lingon said the isometric perspective seems a bit off. I don't know if this was something your were going for, or if the buidling are supposed to be at different angles because they are on slopes/hills, but it's certainly something to consider.

Certainly a very individual map though!

Thanks for all the kind words and tips! I will be the first to admit that my skill with isometric maps is pretty bad, but the sort of haphazzard angles and sizes was completely intentional. Having it looks kind of janky was part of the style choice. The only unintentional flub is the temple of the new god; I wasn't sure what the temple was supposed to be like and at the end, in the back of my mind, I figured I would just recreate a Hand of Nod lookin' building from the old command and conquer games.

    Thanks everyone!
