    Question Where do I find...?

    Greetings Everyone!

I'm a fairly new mapper, having purchased Campaign Cartographer 3+ little over a month ago. I'm making maps for a 5th ed d&d game I will be running soon, and I've made some overland maps (posted in my one and only album) that I'm pleased with.

I realize they probably aren't very realistic... rivers are probably done incorrectly, not sure whether my mountain ranges will pass, although I've been told I seem to have a good grasp on forest placement .

Anyway, when I first joined this forum, I saw that there were some beginner's guides to mapping, but I can't seem to find them. Would someone be willing to point me in their general direction? I would greatly appreciate it!

And I look forward to meeting and learning from everyone

Hello Ladiestorm, Welcome to the Guild!

To get you started, there is a great tutorial in the sticky section of Tutorials, called
Quickstart Guide to Fantasy Mapping: http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=4276

    From there, go to
Hand Drawn Mapping for the Artistically Challenged: http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=10655

    and then read
    Lineart Map Tutorial for Beginners:

And be sure not to miss
How to Get Your Rivers in the Right Place: http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=3822

    and

Have fun and I'll look forward to seeing your first map post!

Hi Ladiestorm, welcome to the Guild!

There's a whole section of the forum dedicated to Tutorials, and you can take a look here:

    http://www.cartographersguild.com/forumdisplay.php?f=48

Possibly the best place to start however would be this particular post from Ravells, which has a ton of information....

Good luck and look forward to seeing your maps!

well, my first set of maps are in an album on this site, so please feel free to take a look! Or if you can't get into them, let me know how to make them public, and I will be sure to do so!

ladiestorm, you can post any of your maps directly to forum threads, but albums are fine too.

If you are wanting feedback/assistance, I suggest posting in the forum threads.

When you are creating a post you click the little icon add photo.JPG and then a dialogue box will pop up and allow you to browse your computer for a file, then you click Upload File. That will add a string of funny looking text (mark up language???) to your post that will be your image once you submit the post.

    Hope that helps!

I've been reading your postings on the CC3/CC3+ forum. It's good to see you on board here too. In fact, I think you'll feel right at home here.

lol... Vintyri on the cc3 forums, correct? Yes, I've noticed a couple of friends from the profantasy site here as well... good to see you again! In fact, aren't you the one that suggested I join here as a great way to learn? Anyway, I'm glad to be here, and I'm simply amazed at the talent here! I doubt my humble creations will ever rate as high as some of the maps I've seen on this site, but if I can increase my ability by even a quarter of these artists' talent I will consider myself very fortunate!
