So good! I agree, it is super realistic.
Lovely work Daniel! I have to agree with what other have said about the colour palette: it works a charm! I remember seeing this develop for a while, and then I must have lost track of the thread, but it's great to see you've completed it and, more importantly, your girlfriend likes it!
I agree with everyone on the color, design, and overall scheme of your map. Great job!

this is an absolutely beautiful map! I love the colors, and the 'old world' feel to it. This looks like it could be the map of an actual place! I hope your girlfriend framed it and put it up, that's what I would have done...
Like a thief in the night
she comes with no form
yet tranquility proceeds

Very nice map! I love the layout of the landmasses and their shapes. If i had one wish it is that you upload the map in full-resolution on your dA account...i want to zoom in more to see the details!
And what did the GF say? Inquiring minds want to know
If i can, i'll Rep. you!
I'm trapped in Darkness,
Still I reach out for the Stars
Thanks everyone!
Thank you Eilathen! I've uploaded the mapon DeviantArt, so you can check it out in full size now (: And my girlfriend loved it. She had actually been asking for a worldmap and I kept telling her that I had no time for such a project, so she was very happy with it!

Eilathen asked me for some background on this map so I figured I'd post it here for anyone else interested (:
The first ideas about this world came to my mind some five years ago. They were about the Kingdom of Atya and the Kingdom of Kelmâr (now the States of Kelmâr). They are found on the western side of the eastern most (red) continent. Technology-wise it is a high/late-medieval, and occasionally early renaissance world. This map is drawn in the year 1653 After the Death of Atya (I'll get back to that later ;p). The continents, from the left to the right, are called Nímlöt; Tolen; Meyreenah; Sanmaar and Chàr an Tıra.
Hothachar is made of of the two words 'Hotha' (=whole) and 'Chàr' (=land) and, roughly translated, means 'All the World' or 'The Whole Land'. Some 12.000 years ago it was created by ten Gods, brothers of each other. The land was circle shaped and surrounded by water on all sides. The land was divided by high mountains, into ten kingdoms (like you would divide a pizza into ten pieces ;p), and the ten God ruled as God-Kings over their own kingdoms. One of these God-Kings was Atya, a name you'll here a lot more.
For a long time this went well. The gods created people who lived in their kingdoms and worshiped the gods. But even the Gods weren't immune to greed and lust for power and eventually they turned on each other. The result was a war that lasted a millennium. It was a terrible war (as one might expect when ten gods start fighting each other) in which the gods used all their power against each other, they used the world in their fight. Mountains and oceans were used as weapons, it were a thousand years of earthquakes, storms, thunder, rain, flooding and tsunamis. In this war the world was destroyed. Lands started drifting away, and were forgotten by all, except the ones who lived on them. On these lands new cultures and religions came to be.
The Gods kept fighting on the eastern most (red) continent and one by one fell, until only Atya remained. Atya ruled over Chàr an Tıra (chàr=land, tıra=remain, thus meaning The Lands That Remained), which he believed was all that was left of the world as Emperor of the Atyani Empire. His rule did not last ling however, for the spirits of his brothers haunted him and tortured his mind until Atya too, died, physically removing the gods from the world. The Atyani calendar counts from this moment using Before and After the Death of Atya. After the death of Atya, many lords saw their chance to stand up against the weak human emperor and new nations rose quickly. The Atyani Empire fell apart almost immediately after Atya's death, but always remained as a small kingdom.
There is a lot more to this world and individual nations, but if I would discuss it all I don't think I would be done anytime soon ;P

Cool, thank you, Daniel. I love background for worlds/maps a lot. It makes the experience of looking at a map even richer. I guess me being an enthusiastic roleplayer and worldbuilder plays into that as well

It's fantastic! I really like the mountains. One to be proud of.
