    Default June 2016 Challenge: My Neighborhood

    Ah well, I'll dive into it. I figure if I get it started I'll have more of a chance of continuing to work on it. There were a number of places I would love to map, but I figured I'd just go ahead and do my neighborhood. I'm still deciding whether it will have a fantasy element to it, like a chase or something, or just a boring ol' true map.

    I hope this is fantasy-y enough.

    Nice start, Josiah. But wait, shouldn't your neighbourhood just be a mass of snow? You know, just a blank white page. Easiest challenge ever!

    Thanks all!

    @Diamond. Test subject?..

    @ChickPea. Good point, maybe I should just erase all the linework and call it done.
    Naw, we actually have very hot summers here, and very cold winters. I'm using a google maps snapshot to trace off of, and it's summer in the image.

    Nice start! If you are worried about the fantasy thing, just turn your neighbours into trolls and elves, and you'll be done !

    But don't tell them ... just to be safe.

    That's a promising start ! I'm eager to see where you're heading to.

    Thanks Thomrey.

    I've got a small update here, basically finished the trees. I'm going to have to decide in which direction regarding style to go, because at the moment I have no idea what style it will be. I'm hoping it will all fall into place.

    I kind of wish I went more stylized instead of basically tracing of Google maps, it would better fit the fantasy setting, and I'd have a bit more freedom, but oh well. I've started and I shall continue.

    Let me know what you think.

    It's looking great! I think you can create a fantasy feel (if that's what you want) with the colouring. Nothing I see so far makes me think it's too modern for a fantasy map.

    Looks like you're neighbourhood is quite green . Like it so far, and yeah, it does'nt look really modern right now... If you're putting a garden dwarf, it's still fantasy right ?
