High Rock - Elder Scrolls [commission]

So I have been requested by the Beyond Skyrim: Iliac bay team to create a map for the province of High Rock.

Wow! That's really cool that you got to make a map for that. I've played Oblivion and Beyond Skyrim sounds pretty awesome.

Excellent job with this. I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more fade in the blue of the ocean though.
Fits in nicely with the style of the other maps. Have some rep!

Thanks Josiah, I tried fading the water at the edges, some low oppacity eraser brush will probobly do that, maybe gradient overlay at the end....

I love the blue border representing the sea, but the hatch pattern over the other land territories threw me off a bit. It's often used to denote coastlines as well, so it looks, at first glace, that there are two methods to accentuate coastlines.

The overall aesthetic is great though. The colors and fonts look really good.

I love the blue border representing the sea, but the hatch pattern over the other land territories threw me off a bit. It's often used to denote coastlines as well, so it looks, at first glace, that there are two methods to accentuate coastlines.

I know that i used the lines to represent the land outside of the province, it was intended to look like that and if you would have seen the skyrim map wich my goal was to get as close as i could but with some changes to my likeing, you would understand why i used the lines

I'm not a fan of the main map, since it seems a little cartoonish to my eye, but I really love the more detailed map--the style is gorgeous, and there's a sense of having been drawn from actual geography.

My one concern with the detailed map is that the network of roads seems randomly overlaid across the mountains--there's no instinctive feeling that the mountains are barriers, since it seems the roads cross them no matter the altitude or the grade.

That said, the detailed map really does shine, especially with the heraldic devices, and your choices for the fonts are superb.

True there are some roads that cross mountains but thats only becouse thats how they are, some roads had to be carved mountainside to allow access to Northpoint's heights and shornhelm, though do bear in mind that the wrothgarian peaks in the middle right above wayrest are very high and dangerous and for that no roads were carved there.
for the first map wich describes tamriel was not made by me and i totaly agree with you about the style of it. thanks for your time to critisize and if you are interested in the fonts just ask i can give you the names.

Okay, thanks for clarifying that the first map wasn't yours. In that case, 100% of your maps in this thread are awesome.

And yes, I'd be very interested to know the names of those fonts--they're ideal for the mood.
