    Help [Gimp] Gradient Map not creating desired effect.

    Hey everyone, I was looking into RobA's brilliant tutorial on making maps in Gimp, but I have gotten stuck when making the water. When I use the Gradient Map feature the land becomes green when it should become blue.

    Here are my foreground and background colors:

    toolbox.PNG

    and here is my other dock if you're curious:

    Dock.PNG.

    The map before the gradient:

    Normal.PNG

    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    This is a very odd result if the two colours you picked for the gradiant map were the two you note above!

    Try this (I just did):

    1. Open a brand new GIMP document.
    2. Import your screenshot Normal.png above into it. This is your only layer. (to avoid getting mixed up).
    3. Select the two colours of blue as your foreground/background as above.
    4. Click Color->Map->Gradient Map.
    Your image should now look like this. If it comes out green again then it's quite bizarre. All colourmap does is assign the two blue shades and anything in between to all values in your image. It should not be making anything green!

    Hey Jack, I figured out the problem. I must have accidentally set the gradient setting to one differnt from the default. I am quite new to the program so I did not know the cause until I just decided to fiddle around in the menus. Thanks for your help.
