Yeah it's going to be digital. I'd have liked to do watercolours, but don't have the skills or supplies to do so for this one.

Alrighty then, here we are with the line work and the atrocious lettering done and done:

Clearly I ran into issues, but I decided to repair them as I imagine the officer filling this report would at the time. I'm not sure what they actually did in those time periods to repair egregious inking errors, but I cut out the offending areas and glued new paper in (using a paper backing). I was aiming for a certain atmosphere doing all the lettering by hand and well it's not the best I think I achieved the atmosphere. Part of the problem is this paper which is a bit more absorbent than is ideal for ink methinks.

I took Nachash (literally: Snake) from Samuel 1. He was a King of the Amorites and he besieged a Jewish city on the other side of the Jordon and proposed gouging out the right eye's of all the inhabitants to shame them and the rest of the Israelites. Anyways I decided to move him to an indefinite time period (I figure it could be anywhere from Roman times right up till 19th century) and gave him the position as leader of these misfit bandits. I assume that he was a military commander whose Lord was defeated, dispossessed, and destroyed, and so he took to these caves and decided to make a living by robbing others of theirs.

I'm not actually sure I'm going to colour it in the end, since I kind of like it (it looks pretty great on the paper itself), but I have a few days to decide.

That is fantastic. Definitely stands by itself without color, if that's what you decide. The text is absolutely gorgeous!
