Default Can't open "unofficial" QCT files in new version of Memory-Map

Hello all. I'm new to the forum. I had a quick look for cartographer forums on Google and this one seemed decent

I have a new version of Memory-Map but it will only open official Memory-Map QCT files. Most of my maps are home-made from scans, and apparently forbidden. I've been trying to find if there's some kind of HEX edit that I can do to the files so that Memory-Map will accept them as "official" and display the contents. I have found The Quick Chart File Format Specification V1.03 which has details about this, but I don't know what to change to what. I thought someone else here may have already done this and be able to give me some clues.

    Thank you

    Looked at that link:

    QC3 Key Features
Support for files over 4GiB allowing seamless maps of very large areas
Improved compression algorithm utilising Huffman Coding and Run Length Encoding
    Digital Rights Management
    ...

Digital Rights Management means that the files are locked and its illegal in most countries to unlock it. It mentions that it uses AES which is as of this date an unbroken cryptographic cipher. So your out of luck.

You want my opinion... never use formats and apps that support DRM and never ever use them for your own work. Delete that app from your hard drive and use something else before it takes over all of your work and locks you out of it.

Explain what it is you want to do and we can point you to other alternatives and ways to accomplish it.

No, no. QC3 is a different file format: the DRM-enabled version of QCT. I'm just using good old-fashioned QCT files. The document seems to cover both.

Oh ok. You have your own drawn map and scan it in and then save it as a QCT file and then Memory-Map wont open it ? Whap app did you scan it in or what app converted the file to QCT then ?

I have to mention... you say good old fashioned QCT files... but I have not heard of them before now.

The old versions of Memory-Map included tools to let you make your own maps.
