Default Land of Akran - Commission WIP

Here is another commission I am working on, a black and white map for a novel.

This is what I have so far, what do you think of it?

Nothing really much to say, that looks good so far. the pine forests maybe looks a bit rushed.

I really like the way you draw your mountains - particularly the ones in the bottom right corner. They have a nice range of different shapes and sizes

Off to a lovely start here Josiah. No real criticism from me.

    Thanks so much Max.
I tried the pine forests several times but I couldn't get it quite how I wanted, it will have to do for now.

That's a nice piece Josiah, I really love your mountains, especially the lonely peaks ! I have to agree with Max on the evergreens but it only shows at full zoom. I'm not sure about the wasteland on the east part, it doesn't really do justice to the rest of your linework.

    Thanks Thomas!
Well, it is in a novel so it won't be shown at full size, but perhaps I can try once more to get it better.
The wasteland is a supposed to be very rocky with some scraggly pine trees. I'll try and rework to see if I can get it to look a bit better.

Okay, here's an update. The map is near completion.
@Thomrey. I redid the rocky land you mentioned, do you think it looks better?
I attempted to redo the pine forests but decided to leave them be.

Its the sort of map that I could stare at and make up stories about, so its pretty darned good already

The look of it is better, more textures, more gritty I'd say. If it's for a novel, the screen size will do and it perfectly shows what needs to be seen. The texture of your coasts has a really good look When the map is seen zoomed out, you got a gift for judging the good amount of detail in the format you're asked.
