Hey ! No problem, Mouse !

Your comments are highly appreciated ! And your explanation was really interesting !
Don't be afraid to share your knowledge !

.. And I didn't feel at all that you were trying to convince me !

As you said, the main goal is to obtain a map that pleases me... and, if possible, others !

Oh don't worry, Jo - I don't seem to be able to resist the temptation to say things if I think they might be helpful, but if I ever do go over the top on anything just let me know. No one is perfect - I least of all! LOL

Doesn't matter if you go over the top or not, just keep saying things. It's all worthwhile. I too never knew that about shadows for instance and went about looking for warm and cold shadows throughout the day. I noticed the coldness of primary shadows but did actually see some warm secondary shadows. It just happens that I also had things to say and also decided not to keep 'em in I think realism is a very beneficial foundation or starting point, but there is no reason to enslave your work to it. What I think, doesn't mean one thing one way or another for anyone else though.

@ - JO - This is looking really great, are you planning on colouring the inset drawing? I love those empty patches in the grain fields.

    Thanks for your comments !

I was not convinced by the colours... I'm still hesitating.

I'll go on with the bottom part now and maybe come back to the map later : first ink, then colours...

I've started the bottom of the map : ink and shadows are done...

Now, I've another headache coming up with the dropped shadows...

But I start to like the whole thing... I hope I won't have big disappointement

Again, thanks a lot for all your comments, critics, questions... that really helps me going on !

    Hey Jo

Its all looking very impressive... but I'm not really understanding where these drop shadows come into it. Aren't they only cast by things that aren't touching the ground? Now it's your turn to confuse me! LOL

    (@Falconius - thanks for that I'm cool )

I might use the wrong word : I have to draw the shadows casted by the houses, trees, etc. on the ground... How do you call these ?

As far as I know they're just ordinary shadows

The kind of things that I call drop shadows are cast by birds, aircraft... and to a certain extent boats cast drop shadows on the ocean floor of a shallow sea.

But you never know, I might have been calling them the wrong thing for the last 40 years! LOL

EDIT: clouds - forgot the clouds...
