Map Urobos Lands - New map version

    Hello to all,

Messing around with the map of Urobos I do a second bake to the map`s idea and tried a different approach using the same starting material/info. Tell me what you think about it:

    Full map:

    Cutouts at 100% zoom:

    Thanks for your opinions,

    Antonio

Beautiful map and graphics! I love the mountains and relief elements.

What fonts did you use? They're lovely.

I like it and the map looks very nice on the wood frame & paper background. But I think it would be better if the elements on the paper part (shields and text) were a bit more legible.

Thank you Ilanthar. I observed the same problem but I want to check the impression with other people. They are blended with the paper background in order to obtain a more drawed-like look.

@flaix - Fonts are kelmscott and kartika (comes with windows 7).

Really nice, I agree with Ilanthar about the legibility, I'd take the parachment's saturation down just a hair. Notice a little weirdness on the back edge of the top map on the frame, seems like a transparency of some sort?

This is really beautiful and the layout frame are well done as are the icons, great job, rep worthy here!

I noticed that too. I think it is the bottom of the ocean with the water being transparant.

The ocean is semi transparent, plus in each of the corners of the ocean there are a silver triangular ornamental piece but with the size of the image perhaps they may look like a image weirdeness.

Right now I am busy with another project but as soon as I have a spare moment I would try to desaturate a little the background paper.

I really love your map : the aspect "board game" is fully assumed and it works very well (actually, I want to play this game, now ;-D )
And, for me, the writing on the parchement is so well done, that I support completely the idea : I could still read the stories of all the realms and the aging of all the writings add a lot to the whole map, to the atmosphere.
I had to study old parchment at the university, and I'm amazed by the quality of your "aging job" !!!
    Very good job !!!!!

It's quite lovely! The vivid colors of the map are attractive, and the border along the parchment is great as well. Couple items of critique though. First, the contrast of the parchment texture is pretty high, which might help explain the visibility issues regarding the text that Ilanthar mentioned. Toning it down a notch might help with this. Second, the heraldic shields seem a smidgen too bright to me. This might be do to the high contrast of the parchment texture as well, but either way, I think they might benefit by being a tad darker. Overall a great map!

    Cheers,
    -Arsheesh
