Hey guys

I've done a few city maps but have started to do my first regional map. It is a frozen island. This is more of an experiment to learn about how to draw mountains, especially those covered in snow. This is an island with big mountains and glaciers.

I've tried to learn what I can from pictures of Svalbard.

Main take away so far is steep areas, generally at the ridges, often don't have much snow. Snow then builds up where the mountain starts to widen out. Flat areas are covered in snow, unless the area is at low altitude and warm enough that snow melts away.

I've been looking at lots of maps done by other users and there are some amazing map makers here that are so inspiring. Are there any in particular that could help me, especially in drawing mountains?

I threw the last one into photoshop and put a generic pencil shaded sea to check what it looks like. I also skewed it to match the perspective of the island. It seems to work OK, but I might make the deeper sea darker. Also the text looks pretty average at the moment...Love to get some advise on how to make text stand out. I used an outer glow but it just doesn't look right. Thank you all so much in advance for your helpful feedback!
