That is actually very easy to fix, I'll take care of it :-)

So here is my next bit of progress on Alenhold. I reduced the large lake in the middle of the map and moved the outflowing river to run due east as the client requested. I've also reworked the desert, and added some features that break up that large expanse... What I did, was a series of sheets with a different area of the desert overlapping each other... I also used a slightly darker texture to represent the 'deep desert' which I overlapped with the original fill, at different transparencies, and edge fades. The result is (hopefully) are more 3D visual effect, giving the idea of rugged, not flat terrain. I then added dunes, mesas and a couple of oasis.

And of course, I'm now waiting on client approval before I proceed.

I love the new details in the desert. It really brings it alive. Great work.

I just have a couple small notes and an addition. First, it looks like the peninsula to the south has changed, there's more greenery now. I quite liked how it was before. Second, and this is getting picky, so I'm really sorry, but it feels like you shrunk the Grinning Sea a bit too much. Somewhere in the middle of where it was and is now would be perfect. Lastly, could we add a river going from the lake in the northwest that leads west to the small bay there?

This map is turning out so well! Thank you so much for everything so far.

Luckily the desert terrain in the cradle is now on its own sheet, so I can increase it without redoing everything. I'll resize the Grinning Sea, and redistribute the woods around it, not a problem

Just to clarify, you want a river from the Northeast lake to run west, toward Ash Bay? Is that correct?

Normally rivers would run down the from the higher elevations to the closest lower elevations, which in the case of that lake, would be the eastern coast... However, if I put some higher elevations, like perhaps some hills, in between the lake and the eastern coast, then run the river north of the main mountain range....that could realistically work. I will work on that for you

I'm so sorry! I thought I had replied to this... Obviously I didn't.

Yes, we basically want a big channel that runs from the lake toward the ocean. If you need to make some adjustments to make it make sense, then that's okay with me.

    Next update:

I added more desert to the cradle, I increased the size of the Grinning Sea by about 10% (if that's not enough, let me know, I can do it again), I added a river that runs west out of that northeastern lake, and had it run toward Ash Bay. I then added hills on the eastern side of the lake, to explain why it didn't run west. I then also added a forest for the river to run through.

It is at this stage when I need to start filling in the rest of the forests.... so I need to know from my client how many more forested areas there needs to be, and where they should be.

The Cradle is perfect! The Grinning Sea is perfect. Everything is look quite amazing so far. I think we got our lines crossed a little bit though. The lake I had been referring to was the one that north of the Grinning Sea, not the little guys far to the north. Sorry about that... Otherwise, I'm quite happy with everything else. Thanks!

I just remembered that you asked about the forests. I imagine it would make sense that they would grow along the rivers. I also imagine that you probably know quite a bit about geography (certainly more that I). I would say place them where you think forests would make the most sense. We do have a good spattering of cities in Cintolton (which is the northwestern most part of the continent), so that would probably limit the amount forests, but the rest of the continent is not as heavily populated as this country. I think that's good. Thanks!

Okay, that makes a lot more sense! I will change that, and hopefully post something later today.

Well, I started adding in some general forests, and I know I probably need to sort them out a bit... I just wanted a general look for now. I removed the river that came from the north east lake, and I haven't put it back yet... but I did add a river leaving the midwestern lake that empties out into the bay. I added a tributary and marshland, but I may need to remove that... or at least reduce it some....

At this point, I am mostly done with the basic terrain features, I may have a few more tweaks here and there... such as adding grasslands, and things of that nature. I now need to catch up with the client and focus on ancient to present man-made features to this map. So at this point, I'm waiting on more feedback from my client
