Thread: Seeking a coastal village map

Default Seeking a coastal village map

Ok, this is a bit longer that I intended but give a bit of detail. We can discuss other details upon agreement.

I am looking for a costal village that is quickly expanding. The village is on a southern coast, there is a large forest to north with a small river running through it to the coast. Thelarge republic to the E/SE is expanding it's area of influence and is building a keep at this village which has spurred it's rapid growth of late.

The original hamlet was little more than a fishing village down on the seaside in a beach at the bottom of a gorge cut by a not to distant cataclysm expanding the area that was carved by the river coming from the north. The cliff face on the coast is about 40' at it's peak. The old river valley was cut in the area over millenia, however the upheaval of the recent path greatly expanded it and formed the bay in which the river now empties. There is a fairly steep grade from the shore line up to the land above, it is may be traversed, though recently the path has been modified to traverse the grade to make it easier for wagons to ascend.

Maybe a century or two ago a small fishing village sprang up in the well protected bay along the river on the eastern cliff wall, it is still active, and has many residents, though not all work the small warves of the original village. There are some small taverns and a seedy inn, along with some ruined/burnt-out buildings that have not been dealt with.

The docks of perhaps half a century have taken, much of the shoreline from the old warves and reaching west, there are a few warehouses beyond the high water line, some offices, including offical offices in this space as well.

Finally a small shipyard with a single dry dock lies on the western wall of the cliff, just recently completed. A competing shipyard is currently under construction.

Above lies the portions of the village that sprang forth as the fishing village grew with what small commerce came through in years past. Most of the normal businesses, government, places of worship, and villagers homes lie up there. There are outlying farms, ranches, a grist mill, a logging operation and mill lie along the river far to the north at the edge of the forest, and a few estates. There is a new temple under construction to the sea god, and the construction place of the keep. A couple of towers stand atop the cliffs protecting the narrow entrance to the bay. The estates are all on the costal cliffs, most of them lie to the east of the gorge, but three lie to the west. The furthest one out is dillapidated, not ruined, but has not been cared for in years, perhaps it is cursed, there is a small hidden bay, just big enough for one small ship to remain sheltered/hidden from view. Some pilings have been erected to tie off the ship to. A small cave is at the water line. The second furthest estate out has a small tower where the wizard that was the protector of the village had her laboratory. The tower suffered a catastrophic explosion in the top floor within the last week.

There is a road heading W/E through the center of the village, to the north of the estates. This is an established trade route. Outside of the town proper is a small caravansary.

Some styles that I like -
On this one I'd perfer the colors to be a bit more muted - https://www.cartographersguild.com/a...5&d=1460292055

And if black & white this is great, though a bit to busy - http://orig06.deviantart.net/24a0/f/...an-d7kzx5f.jpg

I have no set timeline for this project at this time, would like to discuss how long you think it would take to complete.

    Fee is negotiable.

The map is for a Castle & Crusades module I am working on. This work will be submitted to the Knights of the Crusade site, and be available for free downloads from Knights Members. There is no fee for membership in the site for active members, though there is a pay-for option. I am not affiliated with Troll Lord Games, the entity that runs the site.

I am looking to have the rights to use and reproduce the artwork in this and future projects, and will be crediting the artist in all works. The artist will retain all other rights to the work.

    Should print well at 10.5"x8"
