Also, the other ''real'' word maps were supposed to portray Europe or other parts of the world in year xxxx
but even so, (mostly border) mistakes could be found.

Love it. Very Cthulu-esque. I can imagine an alternate universe earth where the elder gods and things that should not be hold sway...

Well, the thread is in the Finish Map forum, which would mean that the map is done. But of course, I had to tweak it just the tiniest bit possible, because I'm never satisfied with my maps.
So here is an almost imperceptibly different version; just removed the canvas overlay texture, 'cause I didn't like it, and changed the opacity of a grunge overlay. Totally not worth posting, but anyway, here it is.

Given the UK's proclivity for silly/rude place names, I'm glad to see we have a "Kinkworthe".

Silliness aside though, this map is gorgeous, the pattern of the sea is lovely, and the names/subtitles of the various areas are a nice touch -- they hint at some nicely ominous backstory for the world.

Much better and totally worth it, speaking as a chronic over-texturer myself. That sea pattern is brilliant!
