Map The Coman Archipelago and its Eight Dawning Principalities

    Coman_Principalities.jpg
I tackled another of my many half-finished maps the last weeks. I took the original mountain linework which in part is a bit flawed perspective-wise, but i mainly wanted to apply a specific colour scheme and experiment with the inset of a political map. In the process my original gimp-project file got lost due to a crash during the saving and this is the only left version (flatted though) but without the compass rose and rhumb lines.
    Hope you enjoy it nonetheless.
Comments, critique and suggestions are as always welcome!
    Cheers,
    AL

Very nice map! I really like the color scheme, it goes very well together. I also like that you put the territories apart from the actual map, it makes you look back and forth and you get maximum visibility of the map. Great work!

Very nice map Abu. Sad thing that the final/latests version got lost, but this one is a pleasure to look at still. Thanks for sharing (:

A beauty! Even if it doesn't quite have the finished map.

    EDIT: Can't rep...

Thanks a lot Mimine! First time i made such an inset map and I'm glad you like it.

Thank you Mouse! I drew the mountains nearly a year ago, and as with nearly everything done a while back, my actual discomfort is strong. As written, they are not too coherent and look a bit too randomly spread around...

Thank you Dan! Yes from time to time i need to be remembered to do backup copies of my project files... it's an ongoing and painful learning process

Very nice indeed, beautiful color, especially like the text on the background and green. Your mountains are really nicely drawn. Inset map very nice too. Love it rep worthy here!

    Beautiful map.

I like the color choices for the main map.
My only issue (once I figured out what the small map in the corner was supposed to be) It's very hard to see the color difference in the names of the regions. I realized the color of the name is to match the color of the region. but the color on the text is very hard to see. Maybe it's just my eyes.

I think this map is wonderful. I love the way you have woven some of the forests through the mountains and I love the colors you have used overall on the map. To me they are very inviting. And the place names you have given are well done.

Really good job Martin ! The inset is a win and the idea of going without linework for it is golden !
