    Default The World of Tutoriala

    Hello,

It is been a long time since I posted anything. But the last few days I have been working on a new map. It is a map for a tutorial. I will add the tutorial in the Tutorial section soon.
The way I have made it was by starting out as a supercontinent like Pangea, and then having tectonic plates break the continents apart and define where mountain ranges and island chains would be.
It is a much different approach than I used to have.

Just found this while catching up with the CG feed- had to reply to say what a fantastic piece of work this is. Very well thought out and with a beautiful style!

Nice map! Good color choices and very clean style. I would probably have either a coastal ring or hatching, not both at the same time, but it's a minor point.
Oh, and the compass is really cute.

I like the map style here. The colors are very interesting and the map style gives me the impression that I'm reading an old book from secret library. Very cool.

Very attractive map with an appealing clean style.

Agree with Ilanthar's comment about the coastline. I'm a huge fan of the hatching style, so I'd definitely recommend that instead of the ring!! That aside, my only other criticism would be with the labelling, specifically the labels over the water. You've curved 'Southern Tides' and it looks good, but I think it would be more attractive (and consistent) if you curved the other labels too (eg Northern Tides, Boiling Gulf etc). I also wonder if there might have been a better position for some of the Barren Wilds & Wastes labels, so that they aren't sitting right on top of geographic features. It gives a cleaner, more legible look if you can avoid other map elements, where possible.

Nitpicks aside, it's a very pleasing style and I'll rep if I can.

Don't listen to ChickPea, rings beat hatching any day (says the map who's doing hatching at the moment).

Thanks for the tips! I will definitely chose either hatching or rings the next time. I still have a lot to learn on labeling and typography.

I really like the map. I personally think that hatching and the ring can be combined very well, only the hatching shouldn't be visible through the rings.
