Looking good ReverendRover, Welcome to the Challenge!
I like the idea of doing a treasure map, so here goes.
Basic idea is to make something that looks like a more stylized map, something a wealthy merchant may have had, that then fell into the hands of a pirate captain, was scribbled on to mark his booty (hehe) and then spent some time in a bottle. Classic idea.
First WIP is the basic map itself before I start to mess with it and think about how the text will look etc.

Second version of the "original" map before I mess with it. I added basic text, expanded the sea and the jungle a little bit.

Aaaan another quick one. After effects on the map to make it look a) more like a painting and b) aged/weathered

Aaand a rough idea. This is a first pass at the sort of thing I want to do. It's not too bad but needs a little work on placement of the text and lines etc.

Changed the scrawl, less of it, did a few little symbols. I think that will probably be it unless something comes to me. I could probably run it through another filter to edit the "handwritten" notes etc but I like them standing out like the do.

I agree with Ilanthar. They are rather good
Thanks very much, though I give credit for that to the nice mountain symbol in one of the CC3+ annuals, then a messy filter over the top to smooth them out
Got t echo Straf and Ilanthar in saying that the mountain style works well! You've got a good choice of fonts too. The only thing I would say is I think the blue sea may be a bit strong in colour, but perhaps that's just me.
