Jan / Feb '17 Lite Challenge: Create a Treasure Map

Okay, I know I'm a bit late to the party but I might be interested in joining the challenge anyway and see if I can come up with something decent in just 4 days. I've got a question, though. Is it allowed to use (open domain) pictures found on the internet in our maps or does everything have to be your own work? For example an object that would make for a great shape for the landmass, textures found on texture sites, or maybe symbols like a compass rose. If I take something like that and modify it to my liking, would that be considered cheating?

Rongar, it's not too late to enter. I think the bit in the rules about closing on the 10th of the month is a little out of date. Bogie generally closes the challenge on the night of the 14th, so you'd have till Tuesday evening (most likely) to finish your map. Bogie usually posts a day or two before the deadline to give a more precise idea when he'll lock the threads.

As for textures and symbols etc created by others, yes, it's OK to use these so long as you have permission & aren't breaking any copyright rules. It's good form to give credit to the creator of the assets you use (plus it lets others download them too, if they like the look of them!!) So go ahead and enter if you like the sound of the challenge. The more the merrier!
