Paint.NET has undergone some updates since this tut was first posted, and new features make PDN even more fun for mapping. I've gone ahead and posted one of my own favored techniques in its own thread; hope you all can get some use out of it.
I know this is an oooooooooold post, but I am doing a worldbuilding project for my forums and I have developed a few of my own techniques and this article was a great help. Not only did you add to my techniques, I was able to build upon yours and develop new ones.
Is there a way to recover the images that do not show up anymore?
Okay, It's been eleventy-billion years since I posted, but I just happened across this thread while doing a quick bit of research on using Paint.net... and it looks like all the images in the post are gone, gone, gone. At least from my browser screen they are. Anyone else seeing bupkis?

Looking at the page source, it seems the OP hosted their images at imageshack, rather than at the Guild. I'd guess Imageshack changed their URLs or possibly the OP deleted the pics or their account.
Unfortunately, since they were never hosted here, there's not a lot we can do. The thread was started in 2008 though, so I don't know how relevant they'd be to the current release (although I've never used Paint.net, so maybe it hasn't changed that much?) Sorry, but I think you're out of luck.
