    Default Map an Exoplanet

In honor of the discovery announced today of 7 Earth sized planets around Trappist-1, three of which are in the habitable zone.

Could do the map many ways from a space map to a region map, geological formation or even an imaginary civilization of any sort on the exoplanet. Could incorporate all styles from hand drawn to 3d modeling.

Could be interesting with a different palette for "natural" colors of the world and how its depicted.

Even though having Fractal Terrains 3 would give me a really unfair advantage....

    I would be quite interested

(that's only my third ever animated gif, btw, and I only started doing them this morning)

Wow, you seem to know every mapping related piece of software that exists! I have never heard of most of these apps you mention, that is super cool!

    Thanks Southern Crane

But in reality I know next to nothing, because the more I learn, the more I realise there is yet to learn, and in fact I it was your challenge suggestion that prompted me to work out how to do this just this morning.

Fractal Terrains 3 is probably the single most useful piece of software I possess, because although its export menus are set up with CC3 in mind, you can export lots of other things from it, and use it as a stand alone app just like I have done above (a lot of people do). Its written by the same man who wrote Wilbur (Waldronate), and it produces far better coastlines than I could ever dream up all by myself.

Of course, I wouldn't be generating animated planets for the challenge if your idea gets chosen because the resolution is really low, but I just wanted to see if I could do it. Thanks for giving me the kick up the backside to go get it sorted out

I am definitely interested in this. Just for starters, I offer up my world of Telpotzin (Trappist-1 3a)Telpotzin 6.JPG
