I said most of what I thought back on the WIP/Challenge thread.
Summarising that - an excellent map, thomrey
Here's my entry for the Jan/feb 2017 Lite Challenge : "Create a treasure map"
I went for a classic pirate map. Drawn with photoshop and a tweaked brush inspired by something J.Edward described in his City of Haerlech thread. I tried to get a "from the world" feel but went a little overboard with some shading. Let's say it's some kind of magic map that can show the shading on the trees and the mountains (maybe even moving shadows showing the passing of daylight). The original map didn't display a title but I added it. The first picture is the titled map. The second is the map with the indications to the treasure. And the bonus, the GIF I did to show the indications. All the text is hand written even if I cloned the letters to get something consistent. Here's the WIP. As it is my first win in a challenge, I guess I'll frame it

Thanks a lot Sue, your feedback was very valuable on this map and thanks for the praise
Thanks a lot Ilanthar ! I keep your previous remark in mind, my top-down mountains need a more subtle shading, I'm working on it. If you want the font for your project, it's yours but I've gotta say, you did a pretty good job on yours
Wonderful entry thomrey! You've definitely captured the pirate map sensibility here. Great muted colors and nice line-work.
Cheers,

Love it thomrey: obviously created by a very artistic pirate with plenty of time on his hands
Judging by the source of the invisible ink as explained in the WIP thread I don't think it was time he had in his hands
Thanks a lot Arsheesh ! That was my aim, I'm glad you judge I succeeded
Thanks for the praise That was exactly the justification Mouse proposed when she pushed me to play with the shadows.
You got a wicked mind ... welcome aboard !
Gotta add something that I forgot. That piece by J.Edward was a huge inspiration for this map. I tried to mimic some (many) of it's features but I still got a long way to go. Thanks a lot John !
Great map Thomas! You really caught that pirate map feeling with this map and I love the subtle colors (:
