    Default City of Cade (Commission)

Here is a recent commission I started, a city map (evident from the title ).
So far I've just got the basic black and white work done.

Because of the size of the city I opted to use dynamic brushes on photoshop for the buildings instead of drawing all of them by hand. How do you think it looks?

I also did a quick colour test, a style that is different from my normal process.

Any critiques, comments or suggestion are very welcome! Let me know what you think of it.

Wow, dit is prachtig! You're off to a great start. I assume that the dynamic brush was used for the buildings right? It looks good. Can't wait to see where you take this map (:

Dankjewel Dan! Ja, dat is wel voor de gebouwen.
I guess I didn't really make that clear in the post, I just changed it.

I really like the varied density of different parts of the city, that's some fine craftsmanship right there. Whatever you've done with your brushes, it's working out really well!

    Cheers,

I really like the construction of the city in its complexity: islands, bridges, mountains ... It is an inexhaustible source of stories

Hi again everyone. Here's a pretty big update. I've been working quickly and have gotten most of the colour done.

I'm looking for any suggestions or thoughts! Let me know what you think about it.

Yep, city maps are very interesting that way and I have fun doing them. With a world map you can imagine a story for the whole country and kingdoms, but with a town map you 'get to know' people in the land individually, so to speak.

Wow, this is great stuff Josiah! Nice work on the hill contours. The layout, colors and textures are all good as well. This is going to be a fantastic piece for your portfolio.

    Cheers,
