    Default My rubble is floating

I tried to draw my own rubble....It's not great.

What's the best way to make rubble from a collapsed wall or cave in? Cause what I'm doing inThe image is definitely not.

Well, the problem right now, I think, is that the rubble looks like a stack of thin plates of stone. But think of what you'd actually see from above when a wall has collapsed: blocks of stone would not lie there, one side neatly facing the ceiling. They'd be broken at different angles, and face the viewer all kinds of different angles as well. In short: you would see more than one side of them. Also bear in mind that some of the thinner parts that stick out of the main body of a block of rubble would probably break off, so you'll end up with simpler shapes than you have now. Think of them as roughed up basic shapes like cubes and prisms. Draw those at an angle, then shade the faces and areas in between that don't receive any or less light.

I hope this is any help. I'm getting ready for work and I don't have time to find a good example to show you what I mean xD

I agree with BD on the basic shapes and shading of the rubble. I would also add that a drop shadow for the individual pieces does not really help because it generally treats things as flat, and that is not what you want for rubble. You want more of a sense that it is a mound, with a generally "rounded" shape. I would shade the whole area of rubble by hand AFTER you have placed the individual pieces so that you can figure out what parts need it or not.
