Question I'm New and I Need Help

I have been getting deep into worldbuilding recently, and I want to start making maps using Inkscape, since the idea of vector mapping seems super cool to me. I had also tried GIS and realized I was in way over my head. I was wondering if anybody a step-by-step tutorial or something to follow. I'm a CS major and I need linear thinking to function. If there was a specific guide for Inkscape of GIS I could use that went through everything point by point, that would be fantastic and I would be severely indebted to you.

Hello UltikanaRe, and welcome to the Guild

I think Inkscape is one of ChickPea's favourite pieces of software. She may be able to help point you in the right direction for a few good tutorials. While you are waiting for other replies, however, why not try looking in our Tutorials forum here to get started with your project. The search facility is fairly easy to use if you can't see what you want straight away.

Looking forward to seeing your progress

Hmm, I use Inkscape for making pretty graphics, but I've never used GIS.

I think Hai-Etlik may know more about this, as I understand this is his field and I know he uses Inkscape, but he isn't always around. I did, however, search through his threads and found this one: Some pointers for using GIS. It's not really about Inkscape though, more about QGIS. Not sure if that's helpful or not. Also, Francissimo did a tutorial too, though, again, it wasn't with Inkscape. Not sure if these guides are really what you're looking for. I can't recall seeing a GIS/Inkscape tutorial, though there could well be one lurking in the dusty archives somewhere. Sorry I can't be more help.

Thank you for the reply! By the way though, I was looking for QGIS or Inkscape, not necessarily both combined lol.

Those tutorials do look quite interesting.
