Hi everyone,
my name is Till and together with my co-founders Thomas & Herbert we are currently preparing our Kickstart for DUNGEONFOG.
UPDATE: We are now live on Kickstarter: http://kck.st/2mHfGfT
Like you, we love maps A LOT. Preparation for a game session is all part of the fun - we can spend hours fantasizing about the next adventure we will take our party on. For us, we noticed, most of that time is usually spent drawing maps and writing GM notes. So we thought... why not create a tool that helps to both in one step, and save some time to focus on new ideas?
As graphic designers, we have Photoshop at our disposal, but nonetheless, Photoshop is not a map-drawing tool, and there is a lot of room for improvement to make map-drawing even more convenient. Also, we know that not everyone is a graphic-designer that owns or has experience with Photoshop. So we decided to do something about it.
We wanted to create a tool that is like Photoshop, but even better when it comes to drawing maps and available to everyone. As the we began to develop the idea more, we realized that we could kill two birds with one stone by addressing each room as an object with its own properties. That made it possible to dynamically generate a text describing the room. In other words, make a game master note based on the picture we draw.
For the last six months, we've been spending every minute of our spare time (well...outside of actually playing D&D) developing DUNGEONFOG. We've made a lot of progress, but we'd like to be able to have all of the features we planned ready and available for you by the end of 2017. And that's why we are currently preparing our Kickstart on March 30th.
So here's what DUNGEONFOG is all about:

- Draw buildings, rooms, dungeons, caverns and many more maps with our online map editor.
- Create your map in settings, like fantasy, sci-fi,dystopian, and more!
- Choose from over 100 pre-set props, filters and textures, or upload your own.
- Get dynamically generated GM notes on everything from room descriptions to traps and secret treasures – all based on the map you draw and all editable to fit your needs.
organize.
- Group your maps based on your campaigns, locations, or in any way you like it.
- Store all of your textures, props and notes in one place so you can always access them when you need them.
- The names and attributes that you give your textures and props will be reflected in your GM notes.
share.
- Share your maps with friends or with the community.
- Collaborate on maps and share them with the community.
- Create duplicates of maps you share, so friends can edit their own version without changing yours.
export.
- Prefer old-school pen and paper? No problem! Simply export your map as printable A4, A2 tiles.
- Get high-res JPGs to use your map in Fantasygrounds, d20pro or Roll20.
play.
- Invite players to join your game and play on the maps you have created.
- Adjust the ratio to fit your TV, Tablet, Screen or Beamer.
- Access all rooms, objects and traps - even the hidden ones as well as your DM-Notes in DM-View.
- Only show your players what you want them to see.
- Click on a room or object to reveal it to your players.
- Click on images in your DM-Notes to show them to your players as an overlay.
