What we normally do (what I normally do anyway), if I'm starting from scratch I run a Work In Progress thread (a WIP) in the WIP forum. When the map is done I then start a thread in the Finished Maps forum to show what I've done.

You don't have to do a Finished Maps thread if you don't want to, but that's the forum that gets most views, and its also the only way of standing a chance of being nominated for the annual Atlas Awards.

When you start a thread in Finished Maps you should provide a hyperlink back to this thread, which is what amounts to the WIP thread in this case, even though you didn't start the map from scratch.
