Who's to say aliens aren't what's causing the gas bubbles?

Personally I think it's aliens that have a little too much gas so they let it go under our ocean
    Probably from too much cheese!

The minor detail that pretty much every area of similar size in the ocean with a similar amount of traffic suffers from a similar number of losses is, of course, irrelevant to the IT'S ALIENS OR WORSE "theories".
"...the marine insurance market Lloyd's of London was asked if an unusually large number of ships had sunk in the Bermuda Triangle area. Lloyd's determined that large numbers of ships had not sunk there. Lloyd's does not charge higher rates for passing through this area." From the wiki. As far as I'm concerned that is the end of the myth. Which saddens me.

well, I have an ancestor that flew during one of the world wars (can't remember which one) that flew into the Triangle, and dissappeared without a trace... never seen or heard from again, and no plane was ever found. So until Lloyd's of Londond can tell me where my great great uncle Aurthur went, and what happened to him, the myth reminds alive.

My my! What a sad thing! To let Lloyd's of London destroy your fantasy. Now ... if it were Donald Trump ...

I wonder how much it would cost to get a policy from Lloyd's of London to guard against any losses incurred because of Trump?

I'm going to guess slightly more than the maximum assessable value of those losses.
