Okay, well, when you decide to redo a map, why not get done, as in finally done-done-no-more-adding/editing-done? Yeah, I just can't seem to do that, so here is a (hopefully damned final!) version of the map. Just a wee bit of retouching, but apparently necessary, says me.

Tanks! I really dig those elements as well. Sometimes I wish I could just use them for every map, but then that would get a bit copy-paste-y, right? And again, coming up with a new interesting compass rose or wave texture for your oceans or using some cool new font for your labels is half the fun making maps!

I am assuming those were all done in Illustrator? They connect really well with the map. Whenever I place vector shapes on my maps, it always looks so digital, with the clean edges and all. But in your case it really feels like paint stamped on a linen canvas.

Not at all. Entirely done in Photoshop, but partly with the vector tools from PS. I have zero experience with Illustrator. I have considered learning how to work with vector graphics, but it just seems like a hassle, I guess I can't be bovvered.
