Thread: Far Lost [Upper-Lower Levels] [commission]

Map Far Lost [Upper-Lower Levels] [commission]

This was a commission I did a few weeks back for a client running a large campaign over the net with a Lovecraftian flair.
I believe it was to be set in the Forgotten Realms' Mere of Dead Men but was to involve Far Realms things and maybe even Hastur.
It was done as 2 pages but they've been combined here for ease of display.
It was fun to do the lighting.

This was actually my first 'lit' dungeon.

Damn, what a badass dungeon! The lights are brilliant, and the overall eldritch mood is awesome. The tentacled glowing stones are absolutely cool. Your linework on bricks/structures is always a pleasure to look at and very inspiring. In my view this piece really raises the bar for hand drawn dungeon maps in general (once again ).

Edit: Sorry John, no rep today... :/

I wasn't sure if the tentacled stuff looked like tentacled stuff or not.
    Glad it does.

My goodness. This is quite fabulous.
It's different from your normal work, and the lighting is wondrous.
This is possibly one of the best dungeon maps I've seen. Really fantastic work John.

What a beautiful drawing of the texture of the stone and the ground.

I don't know the first thing about Lovecraft, because I came at this mapping lark from the direction of a writer who'd never heard of Lovecraft before coming here, and then only recently, but I can still talk about the loveliness of your beautiful drawing here

That is actually sort of surprising about Lovecraft.
I would have thought you would have heard of him earlier.
No matter though. There are so many wonderful writers to choose from, no?
