Oh gosh Voolf. You don't need to do that

EDIT: They only took a few minutes to create in any case.

This is the video that I used. Its for GIMP, but I'm pretty sure you can apply it to PS without too much trouble. Using variations on the main method gives a huge variety of different paper textures, plus I added a very subtle canvas bump map effect on at least one of them.

Ugh, the way he stretches that map just hurts the eyes!

Also, Photoshop doesn't have "colour to alpha". But a far better trick, one that preserves the white even though you don't see it, is to set the layer blending mode to multiply. Same effect, less destructive

Somehow i dont have patience for making textures, lol. I made couple but none is like my favourite. I always shuffle couple in new map untill i decide to go with one, sometimes more.

As for the gimp and colour to alpha, yeah far better option is just set blending mode to multiply which gimp also has.

Btw. I havent used PS in a long time now (my last map in PS was Baba Yaga's hut for a light challange). I am really used to Krita now.

So, the trees are almost done or done (depends on light layer). I am drawing some hightlight on them i am not sure of it yet, but so far i guess that subtle light looks best. I am uploading a crop, so you can check the trees with and without light.

I'm getting stuck on 'OMGoodness' but with maps like this what can I do? LOL!

Those trees are totally perfect, Voolf

As for the texture video - well done for getting as far as the placement of the map, Caenwyr. I found the going a bit slow and stopped viewing it once I had the gist of what I needed for making the textures

Colour to alpha in GIMP is more useful if you want to turn all the black, or red, or some other colour totally transparent. I used multiply like you would. I also kept all the layers and didn't merge them down as Johnnybevo suggests you do, since you can mess around with them and make several similar but different textures all in one go from the same file.

Haha, thanks You two. I like the outcome too. I think i made huge progress since my last trees like that. Takes lots of time, but then again, no good map can be done in 5 minutes.

This is amazing, I really like the roof tiles. I muddled around with that style of tile for a long-ago challenge map, yours make a really beautiful base and your shading makes them look so right.

I cannot wait to see the full, finished map.
