    Default Hello :-)

    Hello!
I have no idea how I stumbled across this site, but I found it a week ago and have been fascinated ... such incredible talent to be enjoyed here! Have always loved maps but never drew one.

Two days ago, I found Ascensions Atlas tutorial. Yesterday I started my first map. I am pleased with my progress but did have some issues translating it to my version of PS.

Today I went through the tutorial again, this time editing and updating Ascensions Word doc as I worked through it for PS CS6

I have uploaded my WIP into my album, but can't seem able to attach it to a post. On a tablet, I'm unable to click and drag the thumbnail. I'm sure I'll figure it out when I have something better to share. If anyone is interested, it's the only item in my album at this time.

I'm excited to finish this little map, see where it takes me... I never thought myself capable of what is emerging!
Already my mind is spinning about possibilities!

hi Kerry and welcome to the guild, glad you've found it fascinating
I look forward to seeing your maps. If you make a thread in the WIP section you should be able to click the "image icon" to upload your map to your post - then we can help you with progressing

Hi Kerry and welcome to the highly addictive hobby of mapmaking!

I made a little graphic recently with instructions on how to add an image to a comment. I don't believe you need to drag anything, it should all just be button clicks. Tablets are funny sometimes, though. I occasionally have difficulty doing regular stuff with mine too, and prefer a PC for forum stuff.

Anyway, if it helps, this is the regular procedure to include an image...

Thanks for the welcome, tilt & ChickPea! (Also for posting the link. It's very helpful!)

There is so much information here -- what I'm finding most difficult is that I can't remember where I saw "that last awesome thread" once I navigate away from it ... lol ... I'm sure that will become easier as time goes on as well.

Hehe, yeah, there's a lot of threads and many different areas in the forum. It takes a little while to find your way, but don't worry. If you stick around, it'll all become second nature.

If you're having trouble finding something particular, just ask. I'm sure someone will be able to help.

So I have to confess that I spent last evening looking up Vesta, (because I had no clue that Vesta even existed before your post!!), which led to fascinating reading about the Dawn spacecraft and then Ceres ...

    Very interesting stuff, for sure!
(And I learned something new yesterday! So thank you for expanding my horizons!)
