    Default Sparta ARC commission map

    Hello everyone,

About a month ago I was contacted by the Warrington Gamers Club. They asked me to make a map for them of a part of South Carolina that had been attacked by Zombies and was now fortified. Now the map is done and I thought I would share it here with you all.

It is the Cross and Longpoint Road area around Lake Moultrie in South Carolina in real life.

I hope you enjoy this little zombie apocalypse town now called Sparta ARC

    Thanks Mouse!

So, something interesting about this map is that the guy wanted me to put in a few extra things. So the two houses by Stump Hollow Lane were to be made more large than the real houses, He wanted some chain link fencing put in four different spots, and some solar panels. He also wanted the trees and vegetation removed from the two islands that are grey.

Other than that, this map is very accurate. I made the houses look very close to what I could tell they looked like from observing them on Google Earth. And they are put in the exact spot they are really in. The cars are the proper color for the people who live there, and in most cases, a close approximation of the proper type of vehicle as well. And they are in the exact spots those people park their vehicles. Every car, boat, motorhome, and house are almost the exact scale that they should be and I tried to add as much detail to the porches and swimming pool areas that I could.

I made the map for him so that the closer you get, the more detail you will see. So if you were to be able to zoom in on house number 33 you would see that the stairs split and go two different directions, and there are some plants below those stairs. You would also be able to see the outdoor furniture that is put in place. Unfortunately, this site does not allow me to post a map so big that you can see all of that.

Now the floating scum on the lake was all painstakingly put in by hand. It isn't perfect, but I tried to make it fit the pattern of the real pond scum from Google Earth as much as I could.

Since he wanted all of the plant life removed from those islands, I thought they would at least leave all of the tree stumps because tree stumps are hard to remove. So I put them in and tried to center each stump to where the middle of the real trees on the map were. So even the stumps you see are mostly in the accurate spot.

Even the trees that are still there are mostly in the right spot. Though I did take some of the trees out because he said the townsfolk would have removed a lot of them so no one like Zombies or Bandits would be able to hide behind them and ambush people.

    Thank you John

@Mouse, I'll see what I can do. This map took three and a half hours just to render. I'm not sure how long it will take for a close up.

Just a tiny snippet of the plants under the stairs maybe - a screen shot?

Ok, this is the swimming pool for house 33. I decided to turn off the Sheets and Effects so it will render faster. Unfortunately, this means that it won't look as pretty, but it will still give you an idea of what is on there. With the sheets and effects on this would mesh together better but this will have to do.

    OMG, Tony

You really weren't joking about the plants under the stairs!

    Thank you for sharing

The detail of this map is quite astonishing. I presume the client purchased the actual CC3 file, so that he could also appreciate all the details.

Yeah, he wanted to be able to make changes to it in the future so he wanted the FCW file, and actually went out and bought CC3+, CD3, DD3, SS1, and SS3, just so he could see all of the symbols that would be used. Before he did this, he also chose this particular style of map so that it would look a little more hand drawn, rather than the more realistic styles.
