Making a Black and White Arctic Continent

This is my second attempt at a continent, and is a very arctic, mountainous, desolate area, only inhabited by human viking and arctic orcs (also dragon of course), but I'm not sure how to make it look like it's arctic, both overall and for one of the main problems. I'm not quite sure how to draw frozen lakes. That giant crater is going to be host to an enormous frozen lake, and I'm not certain on how I would do that without coloring it, and I need some help on what to do for it.

Any help of arctic/frozen/polar continents would be very appreciated! Although I do now know that the edges are normally more jagged because of glaciers falling into the sea (Thank Questing Beast!)
