You're welcome, btw, a shot of me testing my instruction:snapshot4.png

Copy the noise layer, and add it as a channel. (In CS5 you click on the "Channels" tab and click "new channel" and paste the contents).
Is there a way to do this in CS6? I am not seeing a way to paste into channels?

    Thanks.

Click the channels tab on the top of the layers box, then hit new channel like you would for a new layer and paste it there.

    Hi Charlesmp,

I don't have CS6, just CC. But as far as I see, the way to do it didn't change much:
Open the Panel for Layers, click on Channels and then click on the "new" icon on the bottom:

Were you able to find it that way?

I think I got it. I was missing the select pixels step.
    Thanks guys!
