Good job. This is a really good map.

Just an old hand drawn map of mine I converted to digital. It was drawn on 6 regular sized sheets of paper and scanned at 600 dpi. It's mainly an experiment / practise map for myself to preserve some inspiration. It was drawn in several hours split between two days. It has elaborate and expansive continent shapes drawn with hand pain inducing fractal shorelines. Lots of texturing and smudging to convey topography. I never intended to share this with anyone so I left it rough. All places names were made up on the spot and are just placeholders.
The original image file is over 200mb so I had to upload a much smaller version.
Good job. This is a really good map.
Good map , now time to pass it to digital and refine it may be ? .
This is superb map. One can only imagine how much work you have put into this. I would love to see bigger size. Maybe you can upload not origial but stil bigger version with lower quality (should not be much difference in JPG format). Or just one pice in big version.
I don't think this map need to be refined digitally. There is beauty in traditional hand drawn maps and chaos. I love this one.

I was just working on this in the GNU Image Manipulation Program. I've been trying different techniques to clear it all up, but this is a meticulous process. I'm testing automatic enhancements, like filters, contrast correction, black and white levels, layers and masks, and sharpness to quickly fix a large portion of issues. Manual adjustments using drawing / painting tools takes dedication on images of this size, but they offer the best results. I like doing manual adjustments and it will just take some more time and finesse.
I'm eager to see how this map will look after a good graphical mastering. A fully coloured edition is the final goal.
Here is a map I created from scratch in GIMP. I don't remember the steps I took to develop the colourful detail, but it was by luck or accident. The colouring and detail here is an example of my typical colour palettes on both digital and physical maps. Hopefully after some more study and practise I could master my style and break some bad cartography habits.

Also here's a look at a planet image I made using GIMP.
That planet is fantastic.
