    And the very words to you too, sir! I was perusing the Guild for a style of map that would go into the regional map insert on this Asentyne map, and gosh darn it, I do think your Empire of Bannarith map is just a straight perfect fit. So I stole, err, borrowed a fair bit of the look and feel of that map, and went about creating my version of that map, and well, if the dang map didn't go take on a life of its own. This is what I have so far:

    Also, like 3-4 other maps and IRL things have kept me from doing any significant work on the Asentyne map. But we shall see if I can't find some time to set aside and get some progress on this map. Fingers crossed.

    But yeah, I really would like to see an update (or even the finished version) of your map, Diamond. Where is it, precious, where is it, eh!?

    Whoa. That is very cool! How'd you do those mountains?? And I'm flattered that I've been an inspiration.

    As for Bannarith, I think another update will be delivered unto the faithful before another moon has passed.

    You actually like the mountains? Personally, I'm not too fond of them, really... the style is more a "good-enough" than a "that's-what-I-wanted" solution.

    They're quite easy to make:
    1) Draw the mountain as a solid "blob" (this is where you can shape the mountain to your liking)
    2) Set the fill to 0% and add a suitably subtle bevel/emboss effect (play with the light/shadow side as you like; these mountains are depth 50-75%, I think. Alternately, you could set the fill to 10-20% to slightly darken the mountains against the terrain.)
    3) Accentuate the "ridges" of the mountain created by said bevel/emboss effect with simple black lines. This step is probably the most laborious, but you can choose what and how many ridges you want accentuated.

    For reference, check my Maffaton city map, the "mountains" in that map are made the same way.

    So wait, are you saying that you're going in by hand and individually drawing each line on the mountains? I'll say that's laborious! But I really love the effect. It's very stylized and I believe I'm going to steal it if I can somehow replicate it.

    The lines are certainly the most time-consuming orocess. But then, they are just that, straight lines, and the bevel/emboss effect essentially tells you where to draw them. So a bit tiresome, true, but quite fast and easy. And do feel free to steal the style, that'll make us even then, yes?
