Thread: The Valley of Eghsal - Commission

    Default The Valley of Eghsal - Commission

    The Valley of Eghsal: a fantasy map for Daniel Ausema's forthcoming release "The Silk Betrayal" (Guardbridge Books). The concept of the story involves a long ago migration of people from a more tropical (India-esque) region of the world to the more rugged and unforgiving Valley of Eghsal. Only proximity to geothermal heat allows cities to thrive in this industrial-era landscape.

    I'm not entirely satisfied with the illustrative elements of the map, but I'm definitely still working on that skill.

    Looking forward to comments. Thanks all!

    This is a nice and clean, clear and straightforward map to follow a story to.

    Very nicely done. Mountains are fab and I love how you give the land a nice textured feel without it becoming overwhelming. Looks good. The corner decorations are very nice too.

    Looks like it's going to be a big, fat book going by the gap in the middle!

    I like the map and can certainly think it can work great for a book.

    Two small critiques since you asked;
    1) The name of the Wolf Jari Post is hard for me to read. Maybe a white glow or shadow around the text to differentiate it a bit from the mountains?
    2) The navigation line on the top right corner look too square to me.

    Take those two comments understanding I'm not a professional artist or cartographer. Just a fan

    Wonderful map! The cities, border and mountains (oh wait, pretty much everything) is especially awesome. Nothing to add from me.

    It's very pretty, the line is very fine and regular, and so the map is very readable. I like this fine line for a black and white map, it gives a certain distinction, reinforced in this case by the border, which is full of nice details ! Beautiful work!
