If you make a toned down (like 80% transparent) version of the bottom floor under the top floor, you'll fill out the empty space

Looks great! That's too bad about having to redo it though, but it's good that you were compensated.

That's a reasonable time! Although I know i could never reach that quality at my present skills, i still suspect there might be shortcuts to make the flow a bit faster... what steps did you take? I'm very curious as i love the outcome!

I started by drawing the outer walls as black shapes. Then I drew the inner walls and rooms. All on one layer (I use Photoshop). Then I add a layer style of pattern overlay (the stone pattern that you see on the wall. I made it myself, but you can probably find some online as well) and a layer style of stroke. On a second layer I created a white shape for the windows, so I could just move them around when necessary. Then I drew the furniture and floor details with a 4 pixel brush. Finally I selected the pixels in the windows layer and erased the selection from the walls. This didn't really affect the image but is just a way of keeping my layers organized.

There's quite some smaller details that I'm leaving out, but this should give you an idea of my work flow. Hope it helps (:

Haha, very good point. I might try and draw the roofs and walls of the lower levels see how that works (:

    Hey Daniel

Beautiful drawing, and I don't really have anything to add to what everyone else has already said... except that the freestanding spiral stairs in rooms 2, 11, 19, 20, and 22, worry me just a bit, since my brain wants to know how the steps are supported at the outside edge (I'm assuming they're stone). The one in the corner of room 1 makes more sense to me.

    Otherwise a perfect drawing

Thank you, Mouse. I was wondering about those stairs too, when I was drawing them. I was thinking the same thing as you, but it seemed odd to extend the walls to surround the stairs. Maybe I should do that next time, and see if it looks more natural.

I've updated the first post with the suggestion that tilt made. Thank you tilt, the map does indeed look better this way (:
