I, too, love the colours (great water colour look) and how you depicted the mountain ranges. Does the final map have locations on it or is the map showing an untamed wilderness?

Great work. The color and shading are very good. Just some nickpics : imo the shadow of the forest is a bit too large (as tilt said) and the shore need to be less flat. Repped.

The islands indicate scale well. Perhaps you could include a scale/distance key?

Thanks OldRed! About the scale key, the client just wanted me to make the actual map, and he was going to add labels and such.

    Thanks Steffen!
You're right, I probably could have done a better job with that. I'll make sure to keep it in mind for next time!

Thank you so much, Jo! I really appreciate it.

Beautiful maps, Matthew. My preference is for the colour version, as I find the other one just a little too 'bright' in some places. Your shading is fantastic and I love the mountains and forests.

The non-color version was never really intended to be a final version, but rather it's the map without the color, and a few tweaks to make it more presentable. If the final version would have been without color I probably would have played around with it some more to get it looking a little better. Thanks for the input!

Hey Mattew! I love this map, it's beautiful, and it's one of those that isn't very busy. I have to admit, I prefer the version with color, because I get a better sense of what are lakes, rivers, forests and what not... with the shaded one, it's not as clear in some places.

But over all, I really love what you have done with them!

Is the coloured map a layer over the shading?
I love the mountains the look like they were pinched up from the soil if that make sense.
